Tank Hollow Fall

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Seven hikers enjoyed Dwarf Lark Spur in an array of colors covering the hillside beside Tank Hollow Falls at the start of the hike. Several Yellow Lady Slippers were seen on the trail either in full bloom or just opening. Other flowers seen were Indian Paintbrush, Columbine, Dwarf Crested Iris, Dames Rocket, Phlox, Stone Crop, and Purple Phacelia. Everyone was delighted with the morrell mushrooms which were growing in a ’37 Chevy. Faye tried her best to take steal one of the mushroom from Marcia, but in the end went home empty handed. The trail was diverse with low wet areas and high warm areas. The autumn olive flower fragrance filled the air as we enjoyed the color of red bud and dogwood. Hikers were: Debbie, Susan, Franklin, Kendall, Marcia, Faye and Howard.
